Event Description:
Dr. Hara Charlier will discuss the mission of Central Lakes College to "build futures" through the college's role as a regional provider of education and workforce development.  Partnerships with business and industry leaders, the community at-large, and strategies to promote student success will be emphasized.

Three main learning objectives:
1. Understanding the role of comprehensive community colleges in workforce development.
2. Understanding the core value of connections between business leaders and the college to ensure the region's workforce needs are met.
3. Understanding key initiatives to promote student success through retention and completion.

Dr. Hara Charlier took her post as President of Central Lakes College on July 1, 2016. Charlier has served as vice president of instruction and student services at Virginia Highlands Community College since 2012. She holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University, a master's from Miami University and a doctorate from Old Dominion University.
